Verizon Wireless has great coverage (the “network”) but they have a reputation for plain-jane phones. They have introduced a new one that finally appeals to me. The XV6900. It has a touch screen and uses Windows Mobile 6.0 and has Excel, Word and full internet. I am able to upgrade my phone in June, but there are two issues:
Can my hands/fingers be ‘good enough’ to use it well in the future?
Can I afford $30 per month for the ‘data plan’ (on top of the normal charge)
Just stick your SIM card into this, stick it where you want to hear people talking (about you?) and call the SIM card’s phone number and listen in. Very scary…
Last week I traveled on business to our company office in Salt Lake City for two nights. I traveled with my boss whom I tend to never see. Anyway, we got to talk a lot during the trip and he finally realized that I have an MBA and BSEE and years of product management experience. So, he gets enlightened and says, hey, we have a new project coming up and you should (will) be the project manager for that task. I say, great, when do I start! We have a conference call set up for Monday (today) at 6PM with China, so I will call from home to get my feet wet. This is a good thing!
Salt Lake City is a great place to visit but I’d never want to live there. Just doesn’t seem right there. We had nice dinner in a great restaurant at the Mormon “commune?” and had prime rib and/or ham in a buffet setting. A nice glass of wine would have been great with that dinner but there is no alcohol on the menu…
This shot was taken from the restaurant towards the Mormon “Fortress” and the Tabernacle.
And the tabernacle was closed for tours due to an orchestra recording going on inside… Oh well…
Our dog gets me up any time between 2AM and 5AM to be let out of his crate to pee and poop outside.
If I am lucky he will return to his crate after he finishes his bodily functions and I return to bed.
If not, I lay on the couch as he jumps on me and is a pest for 1-4 hours.
The alarm goes off at 5:30AM and I get up and let the dog out again and feed him a little breakfast.
I make myself a cup of coffee and some cereal.
I used to go outside to get the LA Times and read it, but now the dog tears up any newpaper he can find.
I take the business section to my office to read.
I do the shower thing and get in my car at 6:30AM to drive to work after my wife moves 2 cars that are blocking the garage door.
I arrive around 7:30AM and park, walk to my building, and take the elevator to the 4th floor.
I stick my notebook PC into it’s ‘dock’ and turn it on after fighting with it to make it dock correctly.
I wait for the initial cntl/alt/delete boot screen and log in.
I take my coffee cup to the kitchen and get a cup of coffee.
I return to my office and wait for Windows XP Pro to complete it’s booting procedure.
I log into Outlook.
a] See if I have any new email.
b] Nope, nothing new to do.
I log into Firefox
c] Check my Gmail and MSN news.
d] Nothing from the headhunters.
e] Check my Fantasy Football league.
f] Get another cup of coffee.
Read the LA Times business section.

Around noon I will walk to the building next door (the Taco Bell Headquarters building) and get either a Taco Bell meal, some chicken from KFC, or a burger or grilled chicken sandwich from the grill.
I eat at my desk.

Around 4PM I shut down my PC and wait for it to completely shut down.
I drive home and after 60-90 minutes I am home.
Lately a car is in the driveway and blocks my car from parking in it. (what a surprise, I am home at this time every day.)
Someone comes out and moves the car so I can park.
I change my clothes and attempt to check my email at home.
The dog bugs me so much I can’t check my email so I go outside with him and throw a Frisbee for about 20 minutes for the him. He loves it and can now jump up (all 4 legs) to catch the Frisbee.
