I lost everything, well almost everything. My system, a Mac G5 has 3 hard drives, a while ago I installed a fresh OSX on one of the drives. That was the system I used daily. Then, last night when I got home I am working on it and it froze. So, I held the power button down for a few seconds to do a complete shut down. Then it rebooted, into the OLD system, the one I never used. The hard drive with the new system still mounts, but it no longer is ‘bootable’ there is no system folder and no user folder - no system. THAT IS WHERE ALL MY FILES WERE! My source files for the websites I’ve developed and am still developing, my iTunes folder where all my purchased songs are.

Our TIVO died today too, the dog earlier this week and now this…………………………….

    UPDATE:

The Tivo is still dead, BUT - I have my system back!!! The problem was, I was moving disk drives around, I have 5 different drive running at any time. I moved one drive and moved another drive internally. The problem was, these two drives are both 250GB drives and one is named VIDEO 250 and the other one is named VIDEO 250 Internal. I MIXED THE TWO UP. Once I put them back where they originated, my system is back!!!! What a dweeb I am..

The TIVO is getting replaced for free by DirecTV but not for “two days” ..

Last May/June my wife and I celebrated an anniversary and went to Bora Bora, and Tahiti too. This is one of my better shots… It was a great trip, I wish I was back.

This one isn’t too Savant, but it was very cool for me. Back again at college for my BS (in engineering) I took a drafting class to see if I would be any good at it. This may date me a bit, but this is before CADCAM, we used pencils only. Really! Anyhow, every week the instructor would give us a quiz. The quiz was very similar to the diagram below.

Very similarr to my weekly quizes in drafting

Each week he would take out one of the 4 images (either the top, front, right, or the 3D one) and put in 4 different images for us to pick/choose from (multiple choice). One was correct of course. I don’t know why, but my stupid mind always knows which one is correct. I NEVER GOT ONE WRONG! During the 10 week quarter, the instructor noticed I was not getting any quizes wrong, so he tried to make them harder and harder. Without success!

But drafting wasn’t for me - at least back then. The problem was I could not draw a line with a ruler that was the same width from start to finish. I would change the pencil pressure throughout drawing the line and it was not a good line. So, drafting was over. BUT, today, using a computer it would be a different story!

Thanks KC, for the link. This is about the only slow song the Dance Hall Crashers ever sung, and the lyrics are somewhat haunting. I am not sure what the real plot is behind the lyrics, but I miss Lucy… Our house is so quiet now, no collar noises, no claw sounds when she walks on the hard floor, no barking at the slightest noise at the front door, nothing, just stupid cats now..

Last night, after we came home from seeing 300, we saw 3 different places where our dog barfed. Sorry, but I am still upset. She has been fine lately, she is about 13 years old, a shepard mix. We think she was born during the Northridge Earthquake because we picked her up about 8 weeks later at an Australian Shepherd rescue place but she was a mix of something, perhaps a Sheltie or something.

Any how, we fed her last night before we departed to the movie and went out with her to make sure she pee’d on the grass, since our doggy door is closed due the dumb cats efforts trying to escape.

When we came home we found the 3 big throwup spots on the carpet, and I took her outside, and she threwup again. All evening and all night she was panting, obviously not right.

The next morning I decided to stay home and work from home and take the dog to the vet since my wife is busier than I lately. I took her in and the office was very nice and the vet decided to keep her for three nights, potentially, to make sure she was OK and do some tests. The DR said she look anemic and Lucy felt pain when the DR felt her tummy. So, I left with a $2,200US bill.

My wife called the office to get more details, (she is better at that then I). The DR had called me earlier in the afternoon and suspected cancer in her abdomin and her liver levels were “off the charts”. So, putting her down is the right thing to do.

We miss her already, the noises she makes (made), the annoying things she does (did). My wife was there with Lucy at the end and it was very peaceful and quiet. That picture above was taken at the DR’s office with my cell phone, she was clearly not feeling good…

I have actually seen this video a couple of years ago, I think, but didn’t really know who she was. Now I do, and I love her style!

Today I went to a local ATM (in the building next to mine) to get $40 for some cash for lunch and to take my wife to see “300″ tonight.  I have used this ATM before without incident.  I swiped my card, and entered my pin, and went to withdraw the 2 twenties.  I typed in 40, but really typed in 400.  The amount $400 briefly appeared on the screen and I assumed it would fail since I always thought the ATM limit was $200.  But, instead, the 20 twenties came flying out.  FORTUNATELY, we still had some money in the checking account after my checking account draining session.  What a dweeb I am…
